Ratio Eight Cord Issues 

Starting your Ratio Eight should be an easy task by plugging in the power cord, setting up the coffee with the machine's accessories, filling the water tank, and pressing start. If you're having trouble getting your machine started, it's important to check the power cord and make sure it's functioning properly.

Plugging your Machine In

First, make sure the power cord is fully inserted into both the wall and the inlet on the back side of your Ratio Eight. If not fully inserted on either end, you may have trouble starting the machine.

A Loose Power Cord

When inserting the power cord into the back of your Ratio Eight, the connection should feel secure with minimal movement. A small amount of up-and-down play is normal, but you should still feel some resistance when removing the cord. The power cord shouldn't be so loose that it falls out.

Unplugging your Eight and Techniques for Pressing the Brew Button

If you're pressing start and you're not able to get the machine to turn its lights on, try unplugging the power cord, and plugging it back in. You can also try another outlet/circuit, which may resolve the issue.

Also consider the way you're pressing the brew button. If you're quickly tapping the brew button, pressing the button lightly with the tip of your finger, or spamming the button, this could affect the machine's ability to start. We recommend pressing the button with the whole pad of your thumb, firmly enough to cover most of the surface of the button, and holding the button for 1-2 seconds until the cycle starts. You also don't need to press the button hard, since the CapSense technology will register your finger.
