Descaling Your Ratio Four

One of the most important parts of making great coffee is keeping your tools clean, and that includes the inside of your Ratio Four. Preventative maintenance is essential so that your Ratio functions optimally and the quality of your brew is top notch. We’ve made descaling your Ratio easy to remove and prevent limescale buildup.

Descaling

Keeping up with regular maintenance not only helps your coffee taste amazing but ensures that your Ratio performs as designed. To free your machine's internal water lines and heating element of mineral scale buildup, we strongly recommend descaling once per month, or when the water lines appear cloudy, using Halefresh.

  1. Using a clean carafe or pitcher, fill your Ratio's tank with cold water to a half inch below the fill line.

  2. Add 1 OZ (2 tablespoons) of Halefresh to the Ratio Four's tank after the water.

  3. Start the Ratio and let it run through the whole cycle.

  4. Once the brew is complete, let your machine rest for 5 minutes.

  5. Dump out the carafe. Using a clean carafe or pitcher, fill your Ratio's tank with just cold water to the fill line (do not add Halefresh).

  6. Start another brew cycle.

  7. Once the brew is complete, let your machine rest for another 5 minutes.

  8. Repeat steps 4-6 one more time.

  9. Your sparkly clean Ratio is ready to brew!

 

If you haven't descaled your Ratio in a long time, or want one of our technicians to thoroughly remove buildup inside your machine, Ratio offers deep cleaning services! Deep cleanings start at the base price of $50, which usually entails the removal of all build-up and scale in the tank, water lines, and finish parts of the machine's aluminum shell. More often than not, we see deep cleaning services be quoted at that base price. To initiate this process, the next step would be to fill out this Warranty Form. In order to agree to Ratio's Warranty Policy, you will need to submit the completed form. Please make sure you select "Deep Clean Service" when you fill out your form.
