Ratio Eight S2 Stopping in the Middle of the Cycle

Overheating

A Ratio Eight Series 2 that isn't completing the cycle by dispensing all the water, and can be restarted, is a result of an overheating heater. This may be followed by all three light indicators to be flashing after shutting off mid-brew. An overheating heater on your machine is often the result of limescale buildup inside the heating element. This can be prevented by descaling your machine monthly using a liquid descaling solution designed for drip coffee makers. 

Mid-brew shutoff can first be troubleshooted by descaling 1-2 times using our instructions. Our descaling instructions can be found here. 

If this persist after descaling your machine, the best next steps is to request a deep clean service from our warranty team. The service includes the removal of all mineral scale buildup from the tank, water lines, and heater body. It also includes a cleaning of your machine's external shell. The service starts at $50, and most deep cleans end up right at that base price.

To get started, we'll need you to fill out our Warranty Form and choose "Deep Clean Service" from the "Reason for Warranty Return" drop-down. By submitting the completed form, you'll be agreeing to Ratio's Warranty Policy, so please be sure the provided information is accurate!

Stopping in Middle of Cycle and Unresponsive

If your Ratio Eight Series 2 stopped in the middle of the cycle and isn't turning on at all, be sure to check the power cord on both ends to ensure the connection is secure. If it's not the power cord, then please fill out the warranty form linked above. Instead of selecting "Deep Clean Service", please select "Unresponsive".
