Ratio Eight Series 2 - Materials Breakdown
We’ve designed the Series 2 with premium materials chosen for durability, safety, and beautiful performance. Read below for a detailed look at each component, including whether it comes into contact with hot water.
- Water Tank — constructed of Eastman Tritan TX2001, a high-quality, shatter-resistant, BPA-free polymer plastic. No hot water contact. Click here for detailed information about the water tanks we use!
- Water Lines — handblown borosilicate glass. Hot water contact.
- Gaskets/Tubing — FDA-approved silicone gaskets and tubing are used to connect the glass water lines to the heater. We use the bare minimum needed, and only two gaskets are in the hot water pathway. Hot water contact.
- Heating Element — rapid flash, aluminum heating element. Water briefly passes through for about 2 inches before continuing through the water lines and out the shower head. This component has been rigorously lab-tested and meets safety standards well below the allowable limits! Hot water contact.
- Shower Head — 304 stainless steel. Hot water contact.
- Ratio Eight Series 2 Glass Carafe and Glass Carafe Lid — handblown borosilicate glass. Hot water/coffee contact.
- Ratio Eight Series 2 Thermal Carafe — double wall stainless steel interior, cast stainless steel handle and spout. Hot water/coffee contact.
- Ratio Eight Series 2 Thermal Carafe Lid — crafted from FDA-approved silicone. Its purpose is to retain the temperature of your coffee, though it's not required for the brewing process and can be removed before pouring. Hot coffee contact when pouring, if in use.
- Ratio Eight Stainless Steel Brew Basket and Ratio Eight Stainless Steel Catcher — brand-new flat bottom brew basket style of dripper and signature Ratio Eight style catcher, constructed of double-wall stainless steel. Hot water/coffee contact.
