Ratio Six Materials Breakdown
We’ve designed the Ratio Six with premium materials chosen for durability, safety, and beautiful performance. Read below for a detailed look at each component, including whether it comes into contact with hot water.
- Water Tank — constructed of Eastman Tritan TX2001, a high-quality, shatter-resistant, BPA-free polymer plastic. No hot water contact. Click here for detailed information about the water tanks we use!
- Water Lines — handblown borosilicate glass. Hot water contact.
- Gaskets/Tubing — FDA-approved silicone gaskets and tubing are used to connect the glass water lines to the heater. We use the bare minimum needed, and only two gaskets are in the hot water pathway. Hot water contact.
- Shower Head — 304 stainless steel. Hot water contact.
- Heat Shield — made from FDA-approved silicone and a BPA-free polymer plastic. The heat shield is not required for the overall brewing function; rather, it surrounds the shower head to maximize heat loss throughout the brew cycle. Minimal hot water contact (mostly condensation).
- Brew Basket, Thermal Carafe Lid, Thermal Carafe Spout — constructed from a BPA-free polymer plastic. Hot water/coffee contact when in use.
- Looking for a brew that is 100% free of hot water and plastic contact? Achieve this by swapping out your Ratio Six's thermal carafe, filter basket, and heat shield for our Ratio Glass Carafe and reusable Able Kone Filter. We also sell this setup as a bundle at a discounted price—click here to check out our Bundles!
- Thermal Carafe Interior — double wall stainless steel. Hot water/coffee contact.
