Tank Not Releasing Water

There are a few things to check if your Ratio Four water tank isn't releasing the water into your machine.

How Should My Four Water Tank Operate?

Your Ratio Four's water tank is removable. When inserting the water tank onto the dock, the spring-operated valve on the bottom of the water tank will be pushed up to allow the water to flow into the machine. The machine will pump water through the machine until all the water is brewed over your coffee grounds.

When removing the water tank from the dock, the spring-operated valve will seal, preventing water from escaping the tank.

Troubleshooting

First, make sure the water tank is fully inserted into the tank dock until you hear and/or feel a "click." Add water; water must be inside the tank to start the brew cycle. Test the machine by plugging it in, and insert the filter basket and carafe to catch any water that's pushed through the machine. If all three light indicators flash without moving any water, continue below.

There may be an issue with the spring-operated valve on the water tank if the water pump in your Ratio Four isn't able to pull any water into the machine.

To troubleshoot:

  • Press the valve on the bottom of the tank to confirm the spring moves freely and returns to its original position.
  • Fill the water tank while it is removed from the machine, hold it over a sink, and check for leaks.
  • If you notice any debris around the valve or seal, carefully remove it and test the tank again.

If the spring-operated valve appears to be functioning properly and the machine still does not detect water, or if you're unable to resolve the issue, please contact our support team at hello@ratiocoffee.com.
